“I feel happy for the boys and I am asking for a little better attention to the team, I feel that the authorities are being neglected, because we need more attention, it cannot be that we come to a competition of this nature with a very long period. short of preparation”, were part of the evaluations given by the coach of the El Salvador beach team, Rudis Gallo, after participating in the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup 2024.
The national beach soccer team finished the competition in fourth place, with two losses, against Morocco and the United States, and a victory against Switzerland, a sporting event that revealed the current performance of the beach team.
According to the coach, the team did not have the best result on the scoreboard during the competition, but he highlighted that the team from the Salvadoran arena “did a good job,” even though they were not the expected results.
According to Gallo, a readjustment could be proposed in the annual plan to resume activities and training processes, given a possible trip to a camp in South America, since there is a need to train new players and recover the rhythm for others.
“First, God presents a readjustment of the annual plan to resume activities and training processes to see if I can go to a camp in South America, because I need to train these new guys and recover the rhythm of Rubén Batres and del Tín. We had not competed since the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023,” he pointed out. “The national team has its job, but things didn’t work out for us in the definition part. I hope that attention is given to this team, because we deserve it and this fans deserve respect and the national teams must be better served to move forward because next year there are the World Cup qualifiers and there is a World Cup too,” the coach said.
The women’s team also participated in the competition and took second place on the Costa del Sol, beating England in the penalty shootout 3-1, after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
