The Bavarian Police – Media information from the Munich Police dated 01.08.2024

1208. Major police operation – Schwanthalerhöhe

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, at around 5:15 p.m., a major police operation took place in the area of the Hackerbrücke. The reason for this was an initially unclear threat situation that had been reported to the police emergency number 110 by a witness. Numerous emergency services were immediately ordered to the scene.

According to current knowledge, a physical altercation between a 33-year-old resident of the Eichstätt district and two men occurred in a nearby building following a previous property crime. The 33-year-old used a knife. One of the other two people was slightly injured but did not require medical treatment.

The 33-year-old was then temporarily arrested by the officers deployed. He resisted arrest. Since the 33-year-old appeared to be suffering from extremely unstable mental health, he was subsequently taken to a psychiatric facility.

During the operation, the Hacker Bridge was closed and S-Bahn traffic was also affected.

At around 6:00 p.m. the traffic closures were lifted again.

An investigation was launched against the 33-year-old for, among other things, grievous bodily harm, robbery, threats and resistance against law enforcement officers. The police investigation is ongoing.
