The electric Hummer EV follows the tradition of the first generation and is again a huge machine with a maximum weight of 4.8 tons.

Although several months have passed since the introduction of the GMC Hummer EV electric car, during which we learned about most of its functions and technical parameters, this electric pick-up still has something to surprise. Only recent EPA documents have published details of its weight.
For example, documents pointed out by Car & Driver show that the curb weight of the introductory version of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is 4,111 kilograms, while the maximum weight is 4,785 kilograms. The classic Group B driver’s license will obviously not be enough to drive this crumb.

The information about the weight of the giant battery with a usable capacity of 212.7 kWh, which weighs an incredible 1,326 kilograms, is also very interesting. For comparison, for example, the new Škoda Fabia 1.0 TSI has a curb weight of 1142 kilograms. However, the compact SUV Suzuki Vitara will not get over 1.3 tons.
On the other hand, it must be acknowledged that the usable capacity of 212.7 kWh significantly exceeds, for example, the competitive electric pick-up Rivian R1T, which offers 128.9 kWh, or the Ford F-150 Lightning, which also offers 131 kWh in the longer-range version.

However, given the dimensions and weight of the Hummer EV, it is probably not surprising that despite the giant battery, it does not offer a much better range. For example, the Rivian R1T should get up to 505 km on a single charge from its battery, while the Hummer EV says 529 km on a single charge.
Consumption is high compared to the competition, but the interesting thing is that the carmaker will not have to show it in showrooms. While this is normally a mandatory information that should be displayed on the windows of all cars displayed in showrooms, there is an exception in the United States for cars with an emergency weight of 3,856 kilograms, which GMC intends to use.
