The bars are not open; Unnimukundan said thousands of workers were starving and needed permission to open theaters

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Unni Mukundan has demanded permission from the authorities to open cinema theaters as public transport and bars have been open since the Lok Down.

Unni Mukundan wrote in a Facebook post that thousands of people and their families who depend on the industry, including film artists, technicians, production workers, theater owners and workers, are still struggling to make ends meet.

He said that cinema was also a profession and that filming in Malayalam alone was facing a crisis as more than 80 films, including those started before Corona, could not be reopened due to limited filming.

The industry can only move forward and alleviate the hunger of the families who depend on it if the theaters start operating in their original condition.

It is hoped that the authorities will sympathetically allow the opening of theaters, allowing the film industry, which pays crores of rupees in taxes every year, to go ahead with the film industry, which continues to operate, including public transport and bars.
