The barracks of the Carabinieri Territorial Department were inaugurated in Vallo della Lucania

The Carabinieri Territorial Department of Vallo della Lucania is now located in the modern building in via De Hippolytis, near the Palace of Justice, in a strategic position with respect to the judicial offices, the town center and the main connecting roads. It is the third Territorial Department of the “Legione Carabinieri Campania”, together with that of Mondragone e Lower Noceraall located in areas characterized by greater operational commitment, and has 13 Carabinieri stations with jurisdiction over the 29 municipalities in the district.

The celebratory day began with the rendering of military honors to the Army Corps General Antonio De VitaInterregional Carabinieri Commander “Ogaden”, to the tune of the official march “La Fedelissima” performed by the Fanfare of the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania”, followed by a short recollection in honor of all the “fallen” in the performance of duty, especially Mar. Francesco Pastore and the Car. Francesco Ferrarothat Saturday night, at Campagna, lost their lives in a tragic road accident during the course of the service, and to whom all the authorities who intervened addressed a moving thought. After the blessing of the national and European flags by Don Aniello Adinolfiparish priest of the Cathedral of “San Pantaleone” in Vallo della Lucania, delivered by the “godmothers” of the ceremony, the ladies Amelia and Liliana Fioredaughters of the decorated Officer, the solemn flag raising was carried out with the subsequent unveiling of the external toponymic plaque and the internal plaque dedicated to Captain Mario Fiore, with cutting of the ribbon and placing of a floral tribute.

The ceremony concluded with the speeches of the Provincial Carabinieri Commander of Salerno, Col. Filippo Melchiorof the Mayor of Vallo della Lucania, Antonio Sansone, and of the Interregional Carabinieri Commander “Ogaden”, Army Corps General Antonio De Vita. With the numerous local citizens, also present at the event were the representatives of the National Carabinieri Association, the National Forestry Association and the Combatant and Weapons Associations, the delegates of the Military Trade Union Professional Associations, and again, accompanied by the manager school and teachers, the students of the Istituto Comprensivo Vallo della Lucania/Novi Velia “Torre de Mattia”. Finally, with the national parliamentarians, Senator Francesco Castiello and honorable Immaculate Vietrinumerous and different civil, military and religious authorities from Vallo della Lucania and the territorial district of the Carabinieri Department were present.
