Far away from the hustle and bustle of the world and off the coast of Ireland lies the small island of Inisheer. Its residents are as stubborn and weather-beaten as only Irish islanders can be. Life is manageable and often bizarre for outsiders. But even for this very special society, the story that the VHS cinema tells in May is extraordinary:

The male friendship between Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) seems unbreakable, having lasted a lifetime. But suddenly – from one day to the next – for no apparent reason, Colm disconnected. And he goes even further. He makes it clear to his former friend what macabre consequences there will be if he continues to harass him. Every time he tries to get close, he wants to cut off his finger with the scissors.
