The collection coin is issued at a special time – this year marks the 150th anniversary of the artist with a number of events in Latvia. An exhibition will be held at the Latvian National Museum of Art in honor of this event from May 28 Swamp.

The coin created by the artist is interpreted in a painting by Vilhelms Purvītis Winter the existing elements – openwork majestic birches, the shimmering water of the unfrozen lake, the cloudy winter sky – and elegantly transfer them to the silver coin, using different intensities of frosting, textures and mirror surface.
Vilhelms Purvītis (1872–1945) is one of the most significant Latvian end of the 20th century painters of the first half and founders of the Latvian National Museum of Art and the Latvian Academy of Arts.
Vilhelms Purvīte can also be considered a Latvian art diplomat: his name extended beyond the borders of Latvia during his lifetime – his works were collected and received awards at foreign exhibitions, and he himself actively organized Latvian art exhibitions in European cities.
The purchase of a collection coin will only be possible on the website e-monetas.lv from May 25 at 12.00. Receipt of the purchased purchases will be possible by post or in person at the cash desks of the Bank of Latvia in Riga, K. Valdemāra Street 1B.
