The Bank of Latvia announces the next competition for students’ scientific research works

The Bank of Latvia has announced another competition for students’ scientific research papers, the purpose of which is to promote the identification and analysis of macroeconomic problems of the Latvian and Eurozone economies, involving the most capable young economists in this work.

The competition is being held for the 22nd time, and citizens, non-citizens and foreigners of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia who are registered as students of bachelor’s or master’s programs of higher education institutions accredited in the Baltic States during the competition, as well as residents of the Baltic States, are invited to participate. , studying abroad.

You can participate in the competition with works on topical topics affecting the Baltic and Eurozone economies (examples of topics and topics of previous years’ award-winning works).

Works must be submitted to the Bank of Latvia from May 13 to May 31, 2024. The winners will be determined by a specially formed jury of economists of the Bank of Latvia. Award-winning works will be published on the website of the Bank of Latvia www.makroekonomika.lvtheir authors will receive monetary bonuses (including 1st place winner – 1500 euros, two 2nd place winners – 1250 euros for each work, three 3rd place winners – 1000 euros for each work; if the work has several authors, a bonus divisible between them).

2022/2023 30 papers from 10 Latvian and foreign universities (Riga University of Economics, Riga Stradins University, Banking University, University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Riga Business School, Latvian University of Biosciences and Technology, Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Bokoni University and Russian School of Economics)). The 1st place was awarded to the students of the Riga School of Economics, Lote Vahelanas (Lotte Vahelaan) and Linda Teresa Maka (Linda-Terese Makk) about job “Unleashing the Potential of Estonian Firms: An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of ERDF Grants” (“Realizing the growth potential of Estonian companies: an empirical analysis of the impact of ERDF grants”).
