The bank giant leaves the offices only vaccinated. The rest is unlucky

US investment bank Morgan Stanley will ban employees who will not be vaccinated against covide-19 from entering the offices. According to BBC they will have to continue working remotely.

This measure will take effect next month. Its aim is to end some coronavirus-related measures, such as airway obstruction and spacing.

Bank director James Gorman last week urged employees to return to the offices. “From July 12, all staff and visitors will be required to demonstrate that they are fully vaccinated upon entering the Morgan Stanley buildings in New York and Westchester.”

The bank has already introduced vaccine-only facilities in some departments. So far, he trusts his people not to lie about vaccinations, but does not rule out that he will require workers to receive a vaccination certificate in the future.

Another investment bank, Goldman Sachs, encouraged its employees to get vaccinated. “We understand it’s a personal choice.”

Exception: Health and religion

The Equal Employment Opportunities Commission has given the green light to companies to prevent unvaccinated employees from entering the workplace. Exceptions will be given to employees who do not want to be vaccinated for religious or health reasons.

If you can go to a restaurant in New York, you can also go to the office.

Many banks have a clear position on the home office. “If you can go to a restaurant in New York, you can go to an office,” Gorman said last month, saying he would be very disappointed if American workers did not return to the offices by September.

According to Barclays CEO Jes Stanley, working from home is not “sustainable”. At a virtual meeting of the World Economic Forum, he said: “It will remain a challenge to maintain the corporate culture and cooperation that these large financial institutions want and should have.”

Also the head of the largest American bank JPMorgan Jamie Dimon wants to have employees back in the offices, from July.

The survey, meanwhile, has shown that almost all of Britain’s 50 largest employers do not yet plan for a full return of workers to office buildings.
