The Baltic States will emphasize the tactile quality of design at the London Design Festival / Day

In the exhibition, each of the Baltic States will exhibit twelve works, six of which will be included in the virtual design collection. Adorno London 2021 and will also be viewable digitally.

As the name of the exhibition indicates, Tactile Baltics will emphasize the tactile quality of design and the still deep connection with nature in the Baltic region. Installations created especially for exhibitions will allow visitors to gain a better understanding of the most important aspects of Baltic design, i. sk. sustainability, tradition, excellence and innovation. Tactile Baltics with the help of design will tell about the nature, culture and people of the Baltic States – will allow the visitors of the exhibition to feel the materials, colors and shapes of our region.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Dace Vilsone emphasizes: “This is a very important and significant exhibition for Latvia – it is the first Baltic cultural fund – funded cooperation between three neighboring countries in the field of design. At the London Design Festival, this co-operation between the Baltic States makes the individual efforts of designers more visible on the international design map, as well as motivates the creativity of designers, stimulates the development of design in our country. “

Tactile Baltics The organizers and curators are the Latvian Design Center, the Lithuanian Design Forum and the online design platform NID. The exhibition will feature the work of both well-known and young, promising designers – a total of eighteen contemporary design works (six from each country), which will include furniture, lighting, tableware, textiles and jewelry.

In collaboration with the online platform Adorno exhibition Tactile Baltics will also offer eighteen collectible design works that will be included in both the physical exhibition and the Adorno London 2021 in the virtual design collection, which, in addition to the Baltic States, also includes Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.

The layout of the exhibition is created by Estonian scenographers Helena Sirpa and Holger Kilumets, the visual identity has been developed by Latvian graphic designers Kirils Kirasirovs and Sabīne Masaļska. Tactile Baltics The curator of the Latvian design collection is Dita Danosa, the Estonian collection has been selected by Ketlina Lebu, Trīna Loksa and Māris Kase, the curator of the Lithuanian national team is Gabija Vanage.
