During the February 7 elections in Ecuador, a video circulated on Facebook in which a man denounced an alleged electoral fraud after finding a green ballot at the time of voting. Some users on that network replicated the sequence saying it was an example of deception. However, that is the official ballot of the elections. The green ballot replaced a first purple version, after a design error was detected.
“Fraud Beware of fraud! They are using ballots that should be guarded! The CNE and two members must answer for this!”, dice a of publications (1, 2, 3) alongside the video, which was shared about 1,300 times.

The video shows how a man argues with a woman in a voting station.
“It’s not my vote, ma’am. It is the vote of all the people, it is the vote of the ladies who are outside, of the gentlemen who are outside, they are making me vote with a ballot, the ballot with six million false papers. Here it is because it can be recognized because this is the wrong logo, where they got it wrong. It is the color green, these are ballots, it is part of the six million papers, they make us vote with these ballots”, alleges while pointing at the card with a finger.
Then the voices of other people who believe in the protagonist’s version are heard and begin to state that this is an invalid ballot.
The complainant makes reference to the six million cards to vote for the presidential binomial that had to be discarded after an error of “design”By the National Electoral Council (CNE).
The electoral authority reported On January 13, the ballot papers to elect president and vice president had a misprint, so they had to be reprinted.
“The mishap arose from the use of the logo of a local movement instead of the logo of the Acción Mobilizadora Independiente Generado Oportunidades movement (Friend), list 16”Indicated the electoral body.
However, those tiles that were put aside were purple and replaced for the election by green ones.

Although the cards with the error were not publicly eliminated, the president of the CNE argument that during the elections they were to be kept in police and military custody, without exposure “to any kind of misuse”.
The CNE reported that in the event that one of the purple ballots emerged in the scrutiny, the vote would be annulled.
On February 7, Ecuador went to the polls to elect its new president, the 137 members of the National Assembly of the Republic and the five representatives in the Andean Parliament.
