Galatasaray are still waiting for Gedson Fernandes, and confident they will have the 22-year-old midfielder. The arrest of Luís Filipe Vieira following the Cartão Vermelho operation, and subsequent dismissal, delayed the transfer of the under-21 international.
“We have an agreement with Gedson, but there has been a revolution in Benfica,” Galatasaray president Burak Elmas told Turkish television HaberTurk.
Having played the second half of last season at Galatasaray, Gedson left good nominations in Turkey. Galatasaray wants a new loan, with a €2 million fee and an option to buy around €10 million. Benfica, however, has other options in the player’s portfolio, one of which is Lille, the French champion. The Turks remain convinced that they will have the midfielder, and count on Gedson’s desire to return to Istanbul. “I think the player will join us soon. He wants to come,” said President Burak Elmas.
