At 8:45 pm, the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals begins, at Estádio de Alvalade, between Sporting and FC Porto.
Interestingly, this is the first time that the lions face an opponent from the same division, after having eliminated Belenenses, who play in the Serie E of the Portuguese Championship (4-0 win, away), Varzim (2-1, home ) and Casa Pia (2-1, away), both from Liga 2 and, in the quarter-finals, Leça, from Série C of the Portuguese Championship (4-0, neutral ground, Estádio Capital do Móvel, in Paços de Ferreira).
As for the dragons, they defeated Sintrense, from Série E of the Portuguese Championship (5-0, neutral ground, Real SC Sports Complex, in Queluz), Feirense, from Liga 2 (5-1, at home), followed by if two teams from the same level, namely Benfica (3-0, home), in the round of 16 and, in the quarter-finals, Vizela (3-1, away).
The second leg, remember, is scheduled for April 20, at the same time, at Estádio do Dragão.
This season, Sporting and FC Porto faced each other twice, for the championship, registering a draw (1-1) in leonine soil and another equality (2-2), in blue and white territory, the latter, as you know, shrouded in much controversy.
Tomorrow, the other game of the first leg of the semi-finals will take place, Tondela-Mafra, from which the finalist who will face lions or dragons in the queen race final will emerge.
