Raúl de Tomás is Julen Lopetegui’s desired striker at Sevilla. According to the television channel GOL, the Spaniard is the first option of the former FC Porto coach to reinforce the Andalusian attack, preferring RDT to Umar Sadiq (Almería), Giovanni Simeone (Verona) and Paulo Dybala (free after the end of his contract with Juventus ).
The big problem will be the exorbitant amount demanded by the Catalans, who are referring to the termination clause of Raúl de Tomás, in the amount of 70 million euros.
Sevilla is unlikely to be able to reach that amount but Monchi, Sevilla’s sporting director, is on the pitch to try to negotiate with Espanyol.
Who can also win with this deal is Benfica, since, when RDT was sold to Espanyol in January 2020, then for 20 million euros, the Reds secured 20 percent of capital gains in a future transfer of De Tomás.
Last season, RDT scored 17 goals in 36 games and was the second best scorer in La Liga, behind Karim Benzema and Vinícius Jr., Real Madrid forwards.
