PSV posted a farewell message yesterday on social media and also released an interview in which the coach, who was second with the team in the Dutch league, just two points behind Ajax (who won the competition), looked back the two seasons he spent at the Eindhoven club; without, however, mentioning Benfica yet, with whom he has an agreement to sign a contract valid from next season and valid for two seasons plus one option – with a release clause of 10 million euros.
«I am always evolving as a coach and we use each moment, each club, to gain more experience and thus, more experienced, I think we also become better coaches», underlined Roger Schmidt, without ever mentioning Benfica.
“What am I going to do? [ depois do campeonato terminar nos Países Baixos] I don’t know… First have dinner with the guys and spend some time together. Am I going to take some time? Of course, it’s vacation time, it was a very hard season, many games and now it’s time to relax a little”, said the German coach, who, answering a question about what it would take for PSV to be better, presented this interview, part of what can also serve as a recipe for Benfica’s success next season:
“Football is actually very simple and you have to work every day to be champion […] Winning the championship for PSV would have been a perfect ending…»
