Roberto Martínez took on the pain of Belgium’s elimination (1-2) at the feet of Italy, in the quarter-finals of Euro-2020, but he left great praise for the team’s attitude.
“I’m very sad, disappointed, but it was a game between two great teams. Italy were better than us in the first half, we lacked speed in our pressure and we conceded an avoidable goal. In the second half we balanced the game, with 0-2 we could have given up but we didn’t. I’m proud of the team, De Bruyne played 90 minutes injured,” said the Spaniard, noting that “it’s not the right time” to talk about continuing in the position.
