Mauricio Pochettino broke the silence to talk about his time at PSG, about a month after being sacked, in an interview with the news website Infobae.
The Argentine coach was hired in January 2021 to replace the German Thomas Tuchel and lead the Parisians to major titles, but, like the previous managers, he did not achieve better than a French Cup, a Super Cup and the League.
«I have a very positive assessment», addresses the coach about his time at PSG, adding: «The experiences must always be capitalized and always learn from them. We are rational beings who have to think like that. In terms of sports, we won the Cup, the Super Cup and the League in a year and a half, but of course PSG’s project is to win the Champions League and anything that doesn’t win the Champions League can always be considered a failure. Anyway, it’s a failure of fifty years… Not just of the last season, because PSG, especially in the last ten, eleven years, with the arrival of the new owners, intends to win the Champions.»
In the same interview, Mauricio Pochettino said he is convinced that the greatest ambition of the club’s owner, Nasser Khelaifi, will be fulfilled: “I think it will be achieved because the resources are there. But sometimes football is not what you think it can be and there are factors that cannot be controlled. Persisting, year after year, PSG will certainly be able to fulfill the dream of winning a Champions League.”?
