Pele was released from the Albert Einstein hospital this Monday in São Paulo. The former Brazilian international, aged 81, had been hospitalized since February 13 to treat a urinary tract infection.
In the statement, the medical team revealed that, once the infection is over, Pelé will continue to treat the colon tumor that was identified in September 2021 and for which he has been undergoing chemotherapy sessions.
Three-time world champion for Brazil, Pelé hung up his boots in 1977 at the service of the North Americans of the New York Cosmos. Before, he has 19 seasons at the service of Santos, the club where he was formed and for which he won two Libertadores, five Brazilian cups, two Intercontinental Cups and one South American Super Cup.
