THE BALL – Palmeiras player investigated for homophobic insult (Brazil)

The São Paulo Sports Court’s attorney launched an investigation into Danilo. The Palmeiras midfielder was accused of having used a homophobic slur during the State Championship celebrations.

In the middle of the lawn, Danilo recorded a video in which he said: «They are cag… The bambi are cag…». The images were released on social media, having been the target of several criticisms from fans, which led to an investigation.

Remember that in Brazil the term bambi is used to define a homosexual in a pejorative way. According to the Brazilian Sports Justice Code, the use of these discriminatory terms can result in a suspension of five to ten matches, as well as a fine.
