In a special duel between Portuguese coaches, Abel Ferreira, helmsman of Palmeiras, got the better, this Sunday morning, over compatriot Vítor Pereira, coach of Corinthians, by obtaining an expressive victory, by 3-0, at Arena Barueri, home on loan from Verdão due to the fact that the Arena Allianz is unavailable due to a musical concert.
In a match referring to the 3rd round of Serie A, Palmeiras reached the break with a 2-0 lead, goals from Paraguayan central Gustavo Gómez (14′) and forward Rony (19′), both assisted by midfielder Raphael Veiga. In the second half, Abel Ferreira’s men extended the lead to 3-0, with striker Dudu’s goal in the 71st minute.
This was the first victory for Palmeiras, in the fourth game (two draws and one defeat) in the 2022 edition of the Brasileirão and also a debut, but on the negative side, for Corinthians, which had two wins in both rounds.
Abel Ferreira’s team managed to score, in a single match, as many goals (three) as in the three previous rounds and equaled Paulo Sousa’s Flamengo in the classification, with five points in four games.
