The 21-year-old Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen continues to surprise the athletics world by setting, this Thursday, a new world record in the 1,500 meters indoors, by winning the event at the Liévin meeting.
Ingebrigtsen recorded 3.30.60 minutes, leaving behind the previous record holder, the Ethiopian Samuel Tefara, who did not have the pace to accompany the young Norwegian in the last two laps and finished in 3.33.70.
“Basically, I wanted to do the best possible time and breaking the world record is a dream come true. I am very happy. It’s my first one, so I’ll remember this night for a long time and I hope that in the future I can catch up with others”, he said.
