Nicolas Pépé, the most expensive reinforcement in Arsenal’s history, vented about his current situation at the club in the English capital and showed himself to be discouraged with the current scenario and, despite understanding the options of coach Mikel Arteta, left the door open on the way out.

The 26-year-old French-born Ivorian international added: “When a team is winning, it is difficult for a coach to make changes. Mikel Arteta explained this to me and he knows what I think and how hard I am working. But it is also a matter of communication and sometimes it is not easy to communicate with the language barrier. It’s been a difficult season. It’s frustrating not to play, because no player likes to be left out, but I have to respect the coach’s decision and understand that the team is in a good moment.”
Nicolas Pépé, signed from Lille in 2019/20 for 80 million euros, is the most expensive signing in Arsenal’s history, but he has never managed to consistently reach the level he had displayed in France.
This season, the Franco-Ivorian, who is in his third season at the Emirates stadium emblem and has a contract with gunners for two more years, until June 2024, he has a scarce 594 minutes of use in the Premier League, spread over 15 games (only five at the beginning), having scored a goal and provided an assist.
