Mariana Machado won São Silvestre de Lisboa in the women’s event and Miguel Marques won the men’s edition.
The women started with a lead of 4.26 minutes and Mariana Machado, winner in 2021, athlete of SC Braga, immediately took the lead of the race, doing it almost all alone and finished in 32.53 minutes, ahead of Vanessa Carvalho (2nd place) and Dulce Félix (3rd).
In the men’s race, Miguel Marques, a Sporting athlete, finished in 29.10 minutes, in what was his debut to win the São Silvestre of Lisbon, leaving behind Francisco Rodrigues, another lion (2nd place) and David Silva, of SC Braga, in 3rd place.
Furthermore, it should be noted that, in this way (subtracting Mariana Machado’s 4.26-minute lead from the total of 32.53, the result is 28.27 minutes), it was the women who triumphed in the so-called battle of the sexes foreseen by the Lisbon race in what was the 15th edition and broke the record of members reaching 12,500 members, of which more than four thousand were women and athletes from 49 different countries.
