THE BALL – Mainz coach admits Sporting’s departure from target (Germany)

Absent from the pitch since January, Jeremiah St. Juste could return to the Mainz team this Friday, against Wolfsburg. The guarantee was given by coach Bo Svensson, who also admitted the possibility of the 25-year-old centre-back, wanted by Sporting, leaving at the end of the season.

“To think that St. Juste and Niakhaté will stay next season is to be very optimistic. One can still happen, the two do not believe. Everyone sees the quality they have, they are at the top of their footballing maturity and, a year from the end of their contract, they become very desirable. This is where we’re at. I value them a lot, not only as players, but also as people, they are true leaders and, if they leave, I will be very grateful for the time they spent here”, he explained.

A graduate of Heerenveen, Jeremiah St. Juste arrived at Mainz in 2019 after a spell at Feyenoord. For the German club he has 69 games and three goals.
