The Italian referee Davide Massa was appointed by UEFA to referee Benfica’s visit to Club Brugge’s ground, in a match for the round of 16 of the Champions League, on Wednesday.
Massa has never refereed a Benfica game.
The refereeing team is, moreover, all Italian: Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio will be the assistants, with Daniele Chiffi as the fourth referee. At VAR will be Paolo Valeri and Marco Di Bello.
The game in Bruges, at the Jan Breydelstadion, for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, starts at 8 pm.
