After the heavy defeat, by 2-5, at home, against Real Madrid, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, Jordan Henderson, captain of Liverpool, was obviously disappointed with the outcome of the match.
′′ It’s hard to sum up what happened right after a game. I feel that for most of the first half we played well and lacked some luck. When we were leading 2-0 we still had a good danger situation and if it materialized, it would have been a very important moment in the match. But we also made a lot of mistakes, like the second one we suffered and were very disappointed after the third one. After Real Madrid’s 3-2, we left the game and they punished us at every opportunity”, declared the midfielder, adding: “This game had a lot to do with the quality of Real Madrid. We didn’t know how to help ourselves and instead caused problems. Not being one hundred percent defensively, this is an unforgiving opponent. It’s hard to accept what happened.”
Looking ahead to the second leg, Jordan Henderson said: “There are still a few weeks to go. We have to get back on our feet quickly because, before that, we will still be discussing Premier League games and we need to focus on the championship and overcome this moment before we reach the second leg.”
