Roma missed a historic opportunity to make the match against Juventus in the Serie A table. After having been winning 3-1 with the game in the 54th minute, they could not resist the opponent’s strength and ended up defeated by 3-4.
Juve’s sensational comeback at the Olympic Stadium was completed in about eight minutes and follows an unrecognizable period by José Mourinho’s team and with Rui Patrício being able to do nothing to stop the avalanche.
The Romans, who ended up in numerical superiority (expulsion of Matthijs de Ligt in the 81′) still had the opportunity to reach 4-4, but Pellegrini could not beat Szczesny from the eleven-meter line (83′).
For José Mourinho’s team, Tammy Abraham (11′), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (48′) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (53) scored, while Juve’s goals were scored by Paulo Dybala (18′), Manuel Locatelli (70′) , Dejan Kulusevski (74′) and Mattia De Sciglio (77′).
With this result, Roma added the third consecutive game without a win in Serie A. The last time a similar course happened was in May 2021, with Paulo Fonseca in the substitutes’ bench.
With the match still incomplete, Juventus are 5th (38 points in 21 games) and Roma 8th (32 in 21 games as well).
