In an extensive interview on the website of his current club, Legia Warsaw (Poland), Josué had the opportunity to talk about his whole life, on and off the pitch. The midfielder revealed all the difficulties he faced throughout his career, even admitting that his professional choice prevented him from following bad paths…
“If it wasn’t for football I would be in prison. Seriously, the people I used to live with as a child are now under sentence. I couldn’t enjoy life like an ordinary child, I didn’t have a normal childhood. I learned to enjoy life after meeting my wife and the birth of our daughter», he said.
«Each one has their own story: mine is not an easy story but it is mine. Fortunately, I don’t have to tell my daughter that we don’t have food. Now, when she wants to eat ice cream, I don’t need to explain to her that we don’t have the money for it. I didn’t have that comfort, I stole. I went to the supermarket and sometimes stole because I was hungry and sometimes because I just wanted to be like other children and also be able to hold a chocolate bar in my hand», he revealed.
