Barcelona have put a clause in Antoine Griezmann’s loan agreement with Atlético Madrid, according to which the colchoneros would automatically have to pay 40 million euros if the striker played 45 minutes halfway through the matches. That said, using Griezmann in just 30 minutes per game has sparked controversy.
Cadena Ser asked FIFPRO if this type of clause is legal and the truth is that it could also clash with Article 18, which says that no club will enter into a contract that allows any party to the aforementioned contract, or third parties, to hire a position that can influence employment matters and issues relating to the independence, politics or performance of the club’s teams.
