According to the local authorities of Qatar, which will host the 2022 World Cup in a year’s time, to enter the country, fans will have to be in possession of a fan card, a card that will compile tickets for the matches, the passport and reservations at the respective accommodations.
Supporters must also have received both doses of vaccine or, failing that, have a negative Covid-19 test, issued 72 hours before the flight to the Persian Gulf country.
At Doha Airport, visitors will receive a visa in their passport, essential for activating the Ehteraz app, a Qatari version of the health passport, which is the key to accessing anywhere and being able to leave the airport.
However, some freedoms will be conditioned.
Alcohol consumption will be allowed, but only in fan-only areas around Doha and in hotels or restaurants.
The consumption of alcohol in public will be prohibited under penalty of fine.
On the beaches, women will be able to wear bikinis, but not anywhere else where sobriety will be the rule.
Hand-in-hand walks will not be reprimanded, while further signs of affection will be completely prohibited.
