In an extensive interview given to Liverpool’s television channel, at the hotel in Bangkok, where Jurgen Kloop’s team is training, Portuguese Diogo Jota, who is advancing to his third season at the service of the redsaddressed several topics, with emphasis on the injury he suffered while serving the National Team, in the League of Nations, and the signings of Darwin Núñez (ex-Benfica) and compatriot Fábio Carvalho (ex-Fulham of Marco Silva).
After the holidays that were affected by a hamstring injury, suffered while playing for Portugal, on June 12, in the game against Switzerland, which the Portuguese national team won, 4-0, in Alvalade, in Group A2 of the League of Nations. , forward Diogo Jota has already trained without limitations at Liverpool.
“I was unlucky, I injured a tendon. I had the summer to recover well and start the pre-season at 100%. I’ve already completed the first training, with some caution, I’m almost reinstated without limitations, that’s the most important thing», he stressed.
Asked if he expects to have more minutes of play given the departures of Sadio Mané, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino, the 25-year-old Portuguese player was cautious: «It’s a good question… Three left and only one arrived. [Darwin Núñez]well, there is also Fábio [Carvalho], but I don’t know if it will play yet. This scenario allows me to be one of the most experienced, it brings me an extra responsibility, but I’m ready for it.”
Asked to evaluate Darwin Núñez’s acquisitions, the Portuguese international praised his new teammate: «Well, I follow the Portuguese League, obviously, and what he did last year was incredible. It’s not as easy as people think! He scored a lot of goals, including in the Champions League against us, I think that’s what we can expect from him. I hope it can have the same impact as Luis [Díaz] had last year, this will be important for us.
On the possibility of playing for a few minutes against Manchester United, in the preparation game scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, Diogo Jota considers it unlikely: «It is probably too early. But I will be ready very, very soon. I hope I can have a good season, I always do my best, but things don’t always go as expected, but there’s a great season ahead, with many games, and I hope I can help the team and score goals so that we can win.”
As for the team’s goals for the new season, he has no doubts: “We are Liverpool, we need to at least fight for all the competitions in which we are involved. I hope we can be as close and in all the decisive moments that we had last year, although we also know that it is not an easy task, but we will do our best.”
