Aston Villa said they had reached an agreement with Barcelona for the loan of Philippe Coutinho, with an option to buy at the end. It is a return to England after having represented Liverpool between 2013 and 2017, and a reunion with the now coach Steven Gerrard, still dependent on a work visa and medical examinations.
Barcelona thus manages to reduce the salary mass and will be able to sign up the reinforcement Ferran Torres, hired from Manchester City.
Coutinho will stay at the Birmingham club until the end of the season, and is expected in the city within the next 48 hours.
