In a statement, UEFA explained that tonight’s Benfica-Juventus (20:00) will take place without the goal line technology that became operational after the works carried out at the Estádio da Luz.

“Regarding the Champions League match between Benfica and Juventus, the home club – unbeknownst to UEFA or the supplier of UEFA goal technology – has carried out works at the Estádio da Luz that have created the technology system of the line of installed door.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to replace and install a new system in time for the match, so the match will take place without goal line technology in accordance with the UEFA Champions League regulations. “
