Defender/midfielder Hélder Nunes, recent world runners-up in Argentina with Portugal, will return to FC Porto next season, according to A BOLA.
The end of the adventure in Spain, where he has represented Barcelona since 2019, had been expected since last season, but the contractual commitments will have overridden the will of the parties.
In addition to the recent announcement of manager Ricardo Ares’ contract renewal until 2027, the season schedule includes the 28-year-old defender, who was team captain when he joined former Benfica player João Rodrigues at Barcelona. The armband passed to another defender/midfielder, Portuguese-born Argentinian naturalized Reinaldo García who, at almost 40, was renewed for another season, this time without Hélder Nunes. One of the best players of the current generation of the national team, Nunes joined FC Porto in 2012/13 from HC Braga.
