Anri Egutidze won this afternoon a bronze medal (-81 kg) at the Judo Worlds taking place in Budapest.
After a tie in regular time penalties, and with one minute within the golden score (overtime), Egutidze managed to beat Uzbek Sharofiddin Boltaboev pro waza-ari.
The Portuguese judoka benefited from the withdrawal of the Belgian Sami Chouchi, already in the repechage, and went on to the bronze fight.
Over the course of the day, the Portuguese judoka won four matches, losing only in the quarter-finals to the Dutchman Frank De Wit – who also came out with a bronze. He began by beating Montenegrin Nebojsa Gardasevic (110th), then Moldovan Nicon Zaborosciuc (81st), German Dominic Ressel (10th) and Spaniard Alfonso Solana (66th).
This Thursday, June 10th, the fifth day of the event will be for the -70 kg female and -90 kg male categories. Bárbara Timo is the Portuguese representative in action, facing Kazakh Moldir Narynova (81st) in the second round.
