Releasing sperm or ejaculation actually has a number of good benefits for men’s health. Starting from reducing stress, burning calories, making sleep better, to reducing the risk of death from heart disease.

The reason is that the study relied on self-reported answers by the subjects, once in 1992 and once in 2010. The answers were about how often they ejaculated per month and whether or not they had prostate cancer.

The study also did not say whether ejaculation resulted from sexual intercourse or from masturbation. This is likely to play a role in the more specific results regarding the reduced risk of prostate cancer.

There are three alternatives to reduce addiction to releasing sperm, namely psychotherapy, drugs, and shifting to positive activities.

1. Psychotherapy

Treatment can be with psychotherapy which can help manage compulsive sexual behavior. Psychotherapy is divided into three, as follows:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): This therapy identifies negative thoughts and emotions that motivate you to masturbate. After that, you are directed to replace this behavior with an adaptive approach.
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT): This therapy encourages you to commit to changing negative habits.
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy: This therapy is to identify unconscious thoughts or actions, develop new thought patterns and motivations, and to resolve conflicts.

2. Taking medication prescribed by a doctor

If you experience hypersexuality, your doctor will usually suggest taking certain drugs.

This medication aims to relieve triggers for compulsive sexual behavior such as anxiety or depression.

3. Distract with positive activities

How to overcome the bad effects of often releasing the third sperm that you can do is to keep yourself busy with positive activities.

Divert your attention to fun activities like exercise, journaling, socializing with friends, or going for a walk.
