“The Bachelor Star Joey Graziadei Addresses Concerns About His Eye Coloration and Health”
Joey Graziadei, the charismatic star of The Bachelor, recently took to Instagram to address concerns about the coloration of his eyes and assure fans that he is healthy and medically sound. The 28-year-old reality star shared a video in which he explained the unique medical condition he has been dealing with since childhood, in an effort to alleviate any worries about his health.
Joey began by recounting an experience from his high school days when he fell ill for about a week and a half. Concerned about his well-being, his mother took him to see a doctor to ensure it wasn’t anything serious. The doctors conducted tests and drew blood, which revealed something unusual.
“The bloodwork showed that my bilirubin count was very high,” Joey revealed. “That means that there could be something that was wrong with my liver.” Bilirubin is a naturally occurring yellowish-orange substance that is produced when the body breaks down red blood cells. A healthy liver effectively removes bilirubin from the body, so elevated levels of the substance can indicate liver inefficiency.
To investigate further, Joey underwent a liver ultrasound and consulted other doctors. Fortunately, they ruled out serious conditions like hepatitis but diagnosed him with Gilbert syndrome. According to the Mayo Clinic, Gilbert syndrome is a common and harmless liver condition in which the liver fails to properly process bilirubin. It is an inherited genetic condition that often goes unnoticed until raised bilirubin levels are discovered through a blood test. Importantly, Gilbert syndrome does not require treatment.
Joey reassured his fans that despite the impact on the whites of his eyes, giving them a jaundiced appearance, he is healthy. He expressed his intention to prioritize his health in the coming year and ensure that everything is in order. Joey concluded his message by expressing gratitude for the concern and support from his fans, stating, “I do appreciate everyone looking out for me and wondering if I’m OK.”
Currently, Joey is on a quest for love as the leading man in season 28 of The Bachelor. In an interview with ET prior to filming, he expressed his excitement about the opportunity and the support he received from Bachelor Nation. Former Bachelors Ben Higgins and Arie Luyendyk Jr. reached out to him, offering their support and advice. However, Joey made it clear that he wanted to approach the journey in his own way, relying on his own instincts and introspection.
“I appreciate the love and support, but I really am excited to do it my own way,” Joey stated. “I don’t think I really need to look for advice from anyone. I think I’ve just got to look within. I’m here for a reason and I’m gonna do my best to show that.”
Joey expressed confidence that the season would be an unforgettable journey, particularly in terms of meeting new people and finding his person. He eagerly anticipated the opportunity to connect with individuals from different walks of life who were equally committed to finding love.
