THE Miltos Tedoglou ascended to the highest step of the podium on Wednesday afternoon. The bounce of the National Anthem took place at the Stade de France for the 26-year-old Olympian, who won his second consecutive gold medal with a jump of 8.48m. in the final of the length.
The award was made by the president of the EOE and member of the IOC, Spyros Kapralos. Together with Tedoglou, Wayne Pinnock (Olympic silver medalist with a jump of 8.36m) and Matteo Furlani (8.34m) climbed the podium.
After the award, Miltos Tedoglou said the following:
“The medal is very beautiful, I like it and I’m very happy that I got it. It was a nice award, I was grateful. I have heard the national anthem many times, in many parts of the world. Every time it’s different, but at the Olympics it’s more important. There were people in the stands, in Tokyo there weren’t any, my mother and sister had also come today, it was something special. I am happy to be here and to see the Greek flag opposite. I am proud. I saw all my jumps, I always do that. I saw all the details, I’m happy. They were all big jumps, technically they were good, there were things I could change in my race. I had a problem the last few days, I don’t know if I should say it, it was with my shoes. And I had to wear a new pair, a new model, which I had never worn before. I didn’t have time to get used to it and I didn’t have that much confidence in that part.”
