The award-winning animated film “My Favorite War” will premiere in September / Article / LSM.lv

Until then, the authors of the film offer to get acquainted with the main characters of the autobiographical story and the absurd atmosphere of the time portrayed in the film by watching the film’s new trailer.

“My Favorite War” is an animated autobiographical story, full of sincerity and honesty, about growing in the absurd time from the 1970s until the restoration of Latvia’s independence. The animation in the film – the heroine’s memories and fantasies about sometimes strange events – is combined with documentary shots, such as scenes from the Soviet Union’s famous pioneer camp “Artek” or the patriotic-charged Baltic Way during the restoration of Latvia’s independence. The film offers a mood of historical perception, showing what was the duality between the external formal and the internal personal space.

The film ‘s producer Guntis Trekteris notes: “The film’ s theme – for example, living in a time and public space where political decisions cannot be freely spoken and criticized – is still very important, as evidenced by current events in our neighbor Belarus and elsewhere in the world.

The film, which has been made for almost ten years, is a full-time film about lies at the right time. “

The film “My Favorite War” is a Latvian-Norwegian co-production created by the studio “Ego Media” in cooperation with the Norwegian company “Bivrost Film” and the Latvian studio “Tritone Studio”; the film was made with the support of the National Cinema Center and the State Culture Capital Fund. The film’s creative team consists of artists Svein Nyhus, Krišjānis Ābols, Kerija Arne, Toms Burāns, Laima Puntule, Harijs Grundmanis, Nils Hammers, Arnis Zemītis. The music for the film was composed by Kārlis Auzāns. In the autumn of 2019, the completion of the film was supported by the collective investment platform projektubanka.lv.

The premiere of the film will take place on September 22 at the Splendid Palace cinema in Riga; From September 25, the film will be available in Latvian cinemas.
