Mopeds in Indonesia are currently not in demand, most people have switched to automatic scooters (scooters). But in Malaysia, there are still motorbikes that resemble the Honda Astrea and are even similar to the Honda EX5.
Yes, it’s called Aveta DY90, the brand is owned by Aveta Global Marketing, a manufacturer from Malaysia. The model targets the entry level motorbike market.
A moped that is similar to the Astrea from Aveta is the DY90. The motorbike was priced at RM 2,888 when it was launched in 2020. Now the DY 90 is selling on average for RM 3,499 or around Rp. 11.6 million.
The moped has old standards, such as a “T” style shell and white wings. Don’t forget the square headlamp with separate turn signal. So remember the Honda Astrea, right?
The old design is also maintained on the Honda EX5, for example, the dashboard is still covered in square mica with an analog needle pointer.
The shockbreaker is left open so that it can be seen splitting the body, not forgetting the distinctive style with a chain cover, and the braking system is still a drum.
The old model is still maintained, but from the mechanical heart, the Aveta DY09 is equipped with a 90 cc engine. Interestingly, the motorbike still uses a carburetor misting system. Ignition still uses CDI. Wow, that’s really classic, isn’t it?
On paper, the Aveta DY09 is capable of producing 5.58 kW at 8,000 rpm and 5.7 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Power is channeled through a 4-speed transmission.
The Kapchay motorbike is equipped with a 3.5 liter tank. Meanwhile, the weight is relatively light, only 103 kg. The appearance of the Aveta DY09 is similar to the Astrea, which is further emphasized by the use of 17 inch alloy wheels, there is a choice of racing rims too, you know!
