Wages for women grew more significantly than for men. “In the third quarter, women’s average wages rose by 6.7 percent year on year, and men’s wages by only 3.7 percent,” summed up Dalibor Holý, director of the CZSO’s Labor Market and Equal Opportunities Statistics Department.
–
“However, men still had a significantly higher wage level. The median wage of women was 28,825 crowns, while men’s 33,261 crowns, which is 15 percent more, “he added.
–
The average wage for the first to third quarters is 34,611 crowns, which represents a year-on-year increase of 1,188 crowns. In percentage terms, this is a nominal growth of 3.6 percent. However, consumer prices rose by 3.3 percent, so real wage growth was only 0.3 percent.
–
The growth of the average in the third quarter was driven by the public sector. “Wage growth in the third quarter was faster in non-market sectors, where wages accelerated from 4.6 to 7.7 percent year on year,” said Jakub Seidler, chief economist at ING Bank.
–
“The increase was relatively widespread, both in public administration and in educational or cultural activities. Wages in market sectors accelerated less, accelerating from 0.3 percent in the second quarter to 4.5%, ”he added.
–
“Growth was driven mainly by renewed wage growth in manufacturing and wage growth in administrative activities and healthcare. Here, wage growth was also the fastest due to the payment of extraordinary bonuses. On the contrary, the weakest wage growth was in finance, where wages fell in nominal terms, ”Seidler concluded.
