The AVE Orihuela-Madrid will stop in Alicante and Villena from December 12, as reported by Renfe. In this way, two of the four trains that link Madrid with Orihuela will make a direct connection, at high speed, stopping in the four Alicante cities.
As of that date, one AVE per direction will make its route through Alicante with stops in Alicante and Villena AV The high-speed train leaving Madrid Atocha at 6.55 hours advances the departure five minutes (at 06.50) and will make stops at Villena AV at 08.56; in Alicante at 9.22, Elche and arrival in Orihuela at 10.03.
In the opposite direction, the AVE that currently leaves at 8:48 p.m., from Orihuela to Madrid Atocha, modifies its departure at 7:45 p.m. and will have stops in Alicante at 8:25 p.m. and in Villena at 8:45 p.m.
The AVE Orihuela-Madrid began its commercial service on February 1, 2021, with an offer of 2,550 seats per day and an improvement in travel times.
