The avalanche in Rauma – Ski Sweden in mourning: Erik died (32 years old).

Police confirmed on Friday that a 30-year-old Swedish citizen died in the avalanche in Rauma.

The person who died has now been identified as Swedish cross-country skier Erik Johansson.

– It is with great sadness that we have received the news that our friend and club mate Erik has died in an avalanche accident in Isfjorden in Norway. Summit ski tours were a big part of Erik’s life, he was known for his great knowledge and skills in the area. As recently as April, he became Swedish ski mountaineering champion. Our thoughts go out to his family, writes his club Tranemo IF Facebook.

Johansson was 32 years old. He was with two other companions when they were swept away by the avalanche.

Police said he was seriously injured when he was taken out. It has been stated that one comrade is seriously, but not seriously injured, while the last one is slightly injured.

Johansson was transported to hospital in an air ambulance, but his life could not be saved.

The skiing community in Sweden is now in mourning.

– There are so many people who are affected by it. We at the club are shocked and sad, says teammate and friend Christian Olsson The Espresso.

In addition to cross-country skiing and ski touring, Johansson has also practiced orienteering.
