The authorities presented the plan for a safe summer in the Los Ríos region

25 new policemen have already arrived in Los Ríos and 41 more will arrive in February to strengthen public safety.

The Regional Presidential Delegate, Carla Peña Ríos, presented the “Safe Summer Plan” on the Costanera de Valdivia, this initiative strengthens the work of prevention and repression of crimes in tourist places, beaches, spas, paths, streets, parks and other sectors during the summer season. The activity was attended by the Chief of the XIV Police Zone of Los Ríos, General Alex Muñoz Molina; the Provincial Presidential Delegate of Ranco, Alejandro Reyes; PDI Los Ríos Regional Head, Prefect Inspector Alex Schwarzenberg; and the mayor of Valdivia, Carla Amtmann Fecci, among other authorities.

“This is work that we have developed as government policy for this summer and which is part of our public safety agenda. It is a joint effort between municipalities, the military and the police. This month, 25 new troops will be added, and 41 more will be added next month, thus completing a significant increase from what they have been in recent years,” said Delegate Carla Peña Ríos.

The activity was attended by the 25 policemen who came from the NCO School of Concepción and the School of Specialties destined for the places that present the greatest preventive demand during the summer, such as Niebla, Mehuín, Coñaripe, Panguipulli, Futrono, Lago Ranco and Valdivia. Together with the staff of all the institutions involved in the execution of the Safe Estate Plan, the new carabinieri lined up with their respective logistical resources and received greetings from the authorities.

Section OS7, with its “Gemma” canine detector, the Police Special Operations Group, GOPE, were also part of this presentation; and the National Service for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Drug and Alcohol Use, SENDA, with a stand and ambulance from the Zero Tolerance programme.

On the occasion, General Alex Muñoz Molina explained that the objective of this deployment is to offer the inhabitants of the region and tourists a safe environment that guarantees normal movement and the enjoyment of safe holidays. In this sense, he said that the checkpoints of Mehuín, Coñaripe and Niebla have been elevated to temporary structures with greater police forces and logistical resources.

Nationwide, Carabineros deployments will significantly increase this summer with more than 1,100 new troops deployed in different parts of the country. The plan also provides for the dissemination of self-care tips to spend the summer in safety and for the protection of homes temporarily left without residents.
