The author of “Harry Potter” is being sued for plagiarism – 2024-04-15 13:33:55

JK Rowling copied the idea of the young wizard from the book “The Adventures of Willy the Witch” by Adrian Jacobs.

The heirs of the late British writer Adrian Jacobs have added “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling as a defendant in a plagiarism lawsuit they filed against the Bloomsbury publishing house, the AP reported.

Representatives of the fund that manages his estate claim that in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” the British author copied significant parts of Volume 1 of Jacobs’ book “The Adventures of Willy the Witch”, published in 1987. The heirs are adamant that the British woman famous for the books about the little wizard also stole other ideas from the novel, which she recreated in other books in her Harry Potter series.

The writer Adrian Jacobs died in 1996. His heirs filed the case in a London court back in July, but so far only the publisher has been the defendant. Sydney agent Max Markson, who represents executor Paul Allen, values the case at $1 billion. “This will be the decision of the court”, he is categorical.

Bloomsbury denied the allegations and claimed they could not recognize any of Jacobs’ writing in the Harry Potter books.
