Vienna Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and his girlfriend Susanne Thier are expecting their first child. He should be born in late November or early December, the chancellery told the DPA.

The 34-year-old People’s (ÖVP) politician announced on Saturday that his partner was pregnant. “We are overjoyed and grateful that we will soon be in three,” wrote a course on social networks. “We have a beautiful common task ahead of us, which we look forward to with great joyful anticipation,” Kurz wrote, also asking for understanding that he wants to maintain his privacy.
Kurz and Thier have been a couple since their joint school years. Thier works at the Austrian Ministry of Finance.
