FC Barcelona has around 208 million euros in its assets derived from 51% of Bridgeburgthe digital vertical of the club controlled by Barça Vision. The firm explains that due to the “non-compliance of the partners with the payment schedule agreed upon in previous purchases and sales” and “the lack of compliance with the business plans”, “the value of the investment recorded at closing should be subject to impairment.”
Grant Thornton does not specify in the report the amount to be impaired, however, considers the amount significant enough to issue an opinion “with exceptions” on the annual accounts of the last year.
In fact, the club already took into account the deterioration of a series of accounts receivable derived from the shares of the company Bridgeburg Investthe Blaugrana subsidiary that holds the FC Barcelona licenses for the exploitation of digital assets. The reason is none other than non-payment by some investment partners involved. The amount recognized as extraordinary expense amounts to 141 million euros before taxes.
