The Audit Chamber becomes an obedient body of the rulers – 2024-09-13 20:07:30

/ world today news/ “The Audit Chamber is turning into an obedient body of the rulers” – this was the conclusion made by the People’s Representative from BSP LEFT BULGARIA Kornelia Ninova before the BNR.

She recalled that the BSP made the Audit House a collective body not only so that the responsibility could be borne by more people, but also so that work could be done. “There are no guarantees in the law that the auditors of the Audit Chamber and the civil organizations that will send representatives there will be independent. Moreover, the law does not even say that the person proposed by the civil organizations must be a member of one of them”. Ninova explained that reducing the amount of work, bringing in people who would obviously be in a conflict of interest and taking away the possibility of removing them, except through a new law, were some of the main arguments of the socialists against the changes.

The Deputy Chairman of the PG of the BSP LEFT BULGARIA recalled that the new law on the Audit Chamber excludes 160 municipalities from the scope that the chamber had until now, and these are municipalities with expenses of up to BGN 10 million. According to her, this is how the volume of work is reduced of the institution and leaves without control many municipalities through which public procurement and European funds pass.

Protection of Bulgarian producers

“The idea of the Law on Trade Chains proposed by us is to protect the Bulgarian small producer from abuses imposed by the big trade chains,” said Cornelia Ninova on the other important topic. She announced that at the last discussion in the parliamentary committee, she heard very strange arguments from the representatives of commercial chains. “They explained that as a result of the previous discussion, they improved their work and no longer do such abuses,” explained Ninova. She was adamant that precisely because of this, the relevant abuses should be described in the law, so that the big chains are not tempted to do them again. The MP added that Bulgarian laws oblige commercial chains to publish their declarations of income and expenses. However, according to her, they do not do it, they pay their fines and there is no transparency. “That is why we are introducing texts to regulate these things and I categorically do not accept the opinion that they limit the market environment”, she was categorical. Cornelia Ninova also announced that 11 professional organizations of Bulgarian producers stand behind the amendments proposed by the socialists.
