The Audi A6 Avant e-tron electric station wagon threatens cinemas and causes wrinkles at the forefront of the brand’s managers

Concurrency with the classic Audi A6 model

The 4.46 meter long purely electric station wagon, which is now presented as a concept but almost 100% identical to the series version, will appear on the market in 2024. Given the importance of this model line, this is a crucial step for the carmaker. After all, the last model with an internal combustion engine (it will be an SUV) should make its debut in 2026, and the new generation Audi A6 will be shown in 2025. So it will still have internal combustion engines, but it will be the last time. Then everything will lie on the shoulders of the electric drives.

Given the high popularity of the A6 Avant station wagon, it is gratifying that the brand decided to keep this type of body and did not invent any potentially risky crossover creations. Fans of large station wagons from Ingolstadt will continue to have adequate replacement for current models, but it will be purely electric and an important question arises for the brand’s economy – will this pure electric car be able to fully replace the profits generated by the traditional A6 series?

Whereas in the past such predictions of generational change were not at all complicated, today we live in a time when such estimates are very difficult to make, even if it is only a few years ahead. One way or another, this model must succeed, because Audi is very dependent on it in terms of finances.
