ARIZONA, KOMPAS.com – Two pilot who tried The world’s first acrobatic stunt made a mid-air plane swap, ending in a crash after one plane turned upside down before crashing to the ground Sunday (4/24/2022) afternoon in Arizona.
In the original plan, parachutists Luke Aikins and Andy Farrington attempted to jump from each other’s planes while in the air — leaving both planes unmanned.
They will then exchange vehicles in the air to then make a safe landing with a different aircraft from the time of takeoff.
But sponsored attractions Red Bull it turned catastrophic after the two Cessna 182s moved in parallel with nose dives, deliberately to allow the pilots to jump out and begin plunging.
The plane that Farrington had jumped into quickly began to spin out of control and nosedive downwards.
The movement of one plane became very inconsistent with the altitude of the other plane after the two made the jump.

Fortunately, Aikins managed to finish the stunt with his own plane. But Farrington was forced to parachute to the ground when his new plane also crashed.
But even in those chaotic times, Farrington managed to keep his cool, according to colleagues.
“Andy is fine, I can hear him talking to me in freefall,” Aikins said after landing safely.
Both pilots were unharmed, despite their attempts to become the first successful pilots swap planes in the air fail. The duo was not discouraged and kept preparing for the action.
“All the calculations matched and everything was like that,” Farrington said after hitting the ground as reported by New York Post.

“Everything should be fine, for some reason it wasn’t like that but in the end we’re both here, we’re both fine, everyone safe and sound and I think that’s the important part. .”
Although this accident happened, Aikins ensured that the plane swap would not be their last, “we will go back and find out (possible success),” according to USA Today.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced an investigation into the incident Sunday (4/24/2022) early Monday (4/25/2022), also confirming that Farrington’s plane crashed to the ground, according to NBC News.
“The agency on Friday (4/22/2022) rejected the organizer’s request for an exemption from Federal regulations covering the safe operation of aircraft.”
Letter obtained NBC it stated the exception “would not be in the public interest” and the FAA “could not find that the proposed operation would not adversely affect safety.”
